Located in Stamford, CT, Radius is a team of seasoned marketers with over 50 years of combined experience in the direct marketing industry with a specialization in consumer magazine publishing.

Though we have diverse skill sets, we share an entrepreneurial mind-set and an ability to turn big ideas into reality - we also have the track records to prove it.

Rob Riordan

Rob is a 27-year veteran in publishing and marketing with specific expertise in continuity marketing for both print and phone. He spent 10 years at Family Media where as Vice President, Circulation he was responsible for the circulation marketing for 10 consumer magazines, including Ladies’ Home Journal and Discover Magazine. For 7 years, Rob was Vice President, Circulation and Database Marketing at Cowles Enthusiast Media, a large special interest publisher, where he led the efforts to build an in-house database for 30 special interest titles and 6 continuity products in addition to his overall responsibility for circulation marketing. Rob then moved to Synapse Group, Inc., the leading independent multi-channel provider of proprietary customer acquisition and management services for publishers of consumer magazines in the US. Rob held a number of key positions in his 8 years at Synapse including Database Marketing, Retention, and Offer Development. Before he left Synapse in early 2008, Rob was their Senior Vice President in charge of marketing for the entire company.

Rob is a 1982 graduate of Union College in Economics and lives in Stamford, CT with his wife and four children.

Paul Travaglino

Paul has more than 19 years of publishing, partnership development and direct marketing experience. Early in his career, he was active in public affairs and political campaign management - he worked for the Governor’s Office and the Connecticut Legislature, and has advised candidates for national, state and local office. Paul got involved in retail and catalog sales management and then became Associate Publisher at specialty magazine publisher Icon Publishing. Here, Paul was responsible for advertising, marketing and P&L oversight. Paul then spent nearly 8 years at Synapse, serving in a variety of capacities and helped launch and operate innovative marketing programs. Paul spent 3 years consulting to a variety of direct marketing companies, creating marketing partnerships and membership acquisition programs. Paul has provided services to over 100 of the leading magazine publishing companies, encompassing more than 750 magazines.

Paul is a 1988 graduate of The University of Connecticut (Political Science, Urban Studies, Economics) and lives in Stamford CT with his wife and two children.

John Mitchell

John brings 17 years of experience in financial and business management to Radius. He began his career at The Coca Cola Bottling Company of New York where he managed budgeting, financial reporting and capital expenditures for the entire company. He then spent a year at Citibank in Global Trade and joined Synapse in 1997. As Assistant Controller and then Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Synapse, John restructured the company’s financials and assisted the CEO and CFO on the sale of the Company to Time Inc., a division of TimeWarner. In 2004, John became the Managing Director of Synapse’s International businesses in the UK, Switzerland and Canada where he oversaw all sales, marketing, operations and business development. John held this position until leaving in early 2008 to help form Radius Media Group.

John is a 1993 graduate of Fairfield University in Finance and lives in Ridgefield, CT with his wife and two daughters.

Joe Palmer

Joe has over 15 years of experience in the publishing industry with a focus on partnership marketing, client services, and new business development. Before joining Radius, Joe was managing director and founder of Drive, a professional services firm that specialized in establishing performance-based customer acquisition and revenue enhancement programs for direct marketers. Previously, Joe served as vice president of marketing with Hunt-Scanlon Advisors, a publisher and market research firm that tracks and reports on the executive recruitment industry. There he was responsible for the firm's marketing, strategic partnerships, public relations and client services functions. Prior to that, Joe was director of marketing with Synapse where he served over 6 years in various marketing and client services leadership roles. In addition to managing many of Synapse's key client relationships, Joe also led the development of several successful product offers, providing strategic and creative direction, authoring scripts and promotional materials, and overseeing the testing and implementation processes.

Joe received his B.A. in English from Seton Hall University and is an Eagle Scout Award recipient. Since November of 2009, Joe has held an elected position on Fairfield Connecticut's Representative Town Meeting, the legislative body of the town, where he lives with his wife and daughter.

Joe Wolak

Joe has a diverse background with more than 21 years experience in technology and direct marketing. He started his career in the engineering field working in product development for high tech companies, including General Electric. After 5 years, he left engineering to pursue an MBA from The University of Chicago. Upon graduating, he spent 2 years at JP Morgan Chase in its Bankcard division working on customer marketing initiatives. For the next 13 years he was at Synapse where he held a number of functions including IT, analysis, operations and business ownership. At Synapse, he built and grew its Direct Mail business, targeting buyers from other Synapse marketing channels. He was also head of its CAP business, a program that sold magazines for frequent flyer points through all major US airline carriers. In August of 2009 he joined Radius Media Group.

Joe is a 1986 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Engineering and a 1993 graduate of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a MBA in Marketing and Finance. Additionally, he completed an International Marketing program at the Stockholm School of Economics. He lives in Killington, VT.
